Have a cure or a med that can cure ich fast or keep it from coming out. I mean with all the technology we have today I can't believe there is no way to do this. My Blue hippo has gotton ich and I can't get him out of my tank.

Well I would do hypo but I'm not going to spend $50 for a refractometer. And IMO having to empty half the water and remove or move my rocks is way to much just to catch a fish.
On a side note why do you guys say that reef safe ich cures don't work? If they didn't why do they continue to sell them.

There is a remarkable prevention/cure that works very well. QUARANTINE!
:D

Hey Beth the hippo was QUARANTINED. I believe he got it when I added my naso to the tank. But thanks for the sarcastic reply.

The naso was in the QT and shows no signs of ich. I just think spending at least $50 for a refractometer is crazy. I might change my mind if I loose some fish. But right now thats the way I see it.

Yeah, I would deff. let the fish all get ick, instead of moving rock and getting him out of the tank. If you dont wont to spend money then I think you should take up freshwater.

Terry B Thanks for the advice but I don't need help with my attitude. And to all that replyed telling me how to QT a fish thanks but that was not my question. Now I remember why I don't come in here often. It's because all you hear in here is:
You should only use hypo or copper to treat your fish.
Your fish should be QT for at least 4 wks.
Well quess what for someone like myself who tries to do it right and does QT his fish. I don't need this repeated to me every time I ask a question.

Last time I removed my rock my corals all looked bad for a few days. I don't want to risk loosing $500+ in corals to save a $50 fish that might make it anyway. Even if all my fish die I loose $130 in fish. I guess I'm not willing to take the chance of my tank possibly crashing if I mix up the dsb to much.

Have you tried using Tetra anti-parasite food? I used it when I had my Majestic Angel get ick (AFTER quarantine--yes it does happen!!!) He got beat up everyday by my Sohol Tang, stressed him greatly. Managed to easily catch the tang, but the majestic was always hiding from my nets! Didn't want to dismantle my corals, either. Tetra Anti-Parasite food did the trick for me. I do have a UV Sterlizer in my tank, which I'm sure didn't hurt. Fed it for two weeks. Didn't harm any of my corals. Didn't lose any fish. Ick hasn't returned. That was 7 months ago.
It's hard to find, though...some stores here stocked it before it was removed from the market, so I got lucky and stocked up. You can also soak food in it's main ingredient, metronidazol...but I have no idea what concentration to use. LFS guy swears by the stuff for his reef tank, too. He DOESN'T use UV.
BTW, Sohol now kicking my eels around in the moray tank.
