Hey all, i'm starting a 55g setup soon and wanted to know the pros and cons to fiji live rock vs. the others. Is there a site with other types of lr other than fiji that someone can post? Thanks

Fiji has its benefits. IMO, Marshall is the best rock to get. It has more caves and crevices that stuff can hide in. Not too sure on any links that will compare/contrast all the LR available. Just wanted to throw in the Marshall idea.

Is mixing different kinds of LR a good idea or are there complications? I'd imagine it would look overwelming after a few months!

mixing few kind of LR would look very nice IMO, reef is all about diversity so mixed LR will look very diverse.

Also I was thinkin about putting some cheap dead rock up for decoration and tunnels, will DR have any affect on phosphates or nitrates or anything important?

Not if its actual lace rock or base rock from the ocean. I started that way and bought honeycomb and reef rock looks really nice got 75lbs for $111 shipped.

i just started my tank 2 weeks ago, and i agree with mixing lr. i got 15# from my uncle that i used as base rock. he says it's figi, but not very good looking and some is very dense(alot of water displacment).i ordered 60# of not fully cured figi lr for 2.25 a #, and i plan on getting some tonga branch and shelf within days. figi is a more dense rock in my opion, so a more porous rock is ideal but i wanted a good solid foundation to build off.
