Why I like owning herding dogs.

We had a pair of Mallard ducks show up over the weekend and take up residence in my pond and the female is sitting on eggs a short distance away. It is going to be neat to have ducklings around and this pair of ducks is much tamer than what we usually get and I suspect they are city ducks that got blown off course because they know what bread is. My border collie and aussie cattle dog are already ignoring they exist because the moment they showed any interest in the ducks I gave them a stern "leave those kitties alone" and that was the end of that. My neighbors probably think I am nuts because we have cattle, horses, goats and sheep on all sides of our property and at one time or another they all also have been called "kitties". LOL

lol, I had a friend who ran cattle. And one day he ran across a dumped chihuahua. Anyway, he brought her home to the wife. But when he'd go run cattle the dog would beg to come. Finally one day he brought her along. After a few weeks of this, he told his dogs to bring him a cow, and they just sat there and the little dude ran out and brought one back. And that turned into one of his best cow dogs. And his smart cow dogs just let the little guy do all the work...
