Why is my yellow tang losing color?

I have had my yellow tang for about 2 weeks. Today i noticed it losing some of its bright yellow color in certain areas. It is swimming and breathing normal and has no damage on its fins. It is eating well. What's wrong?

What are you feeding it? The most common cause for a loss of color is lack of veggies in the diet. Try feeding it dried seaweed on a clip.
Yellow tangs also lose their color before they sleep - this is normal.

Yes, they need greens in their diet at LEAST twice a day. THAT, plus, try feeding it formula 2. It is specifically designed for herbivores.

I do feed it seaweed on a clip and spirulina flakes. It was at night that he looked pale, but this morning he looks brighter than ever. Why do they lose their color at night?

Spirulina is the best food to retain their color. They lose color at night as a defense mechanism. It makes them appear as something different to predators. You should also see a bold white stripe down their side along with the color fading.
Not to worry. Many fish do this.
