Why is this happening?

I got a used overfloe box and I hooked everything last night to the refugium. However there is an unbearable noise coming from the overflow. I thought that it was the height of the tube in the overflow so I changed it, firstly it was very short and I changed it to a higher height. The noise got lesser but there is still a noise coming from the overflow. Is there a universal height the tubing in the overflow should be or is it just hit or miss. I do not watnt this incredible slurping noise anymore I have a new born and do not wantthe noise to be an issue with her sleeping. Thanks for any help you can give.

I could be wrong but I think hes talking about an external overflow box. The Durso won't work for that.

yes it is an external overflow or hang on overflow. I cannot understand why the noise? is there a speific height the tube in the overflow box should be? again thanks

What size tank ?
What return pump ?
What size sump ?
What size U tube diameter ?
What size drainline from outer box to sump/fuge ?
Are you using a prefilter sponge in the outer box ?

What size tank ? 70 gallon
What return pump ? Rio 2100
What size sump ? 30 L however sump size is 26 inches by 12 inches
What size U tube diameter ? 3/4 inch I believe not sure at work right now can check later
What size drainline from outer box to sump/fuge ? 1 Inch
Are you using a prefilter sponge in the outer box ? Yes
I like that desigh how difficult is it to creat that stand pipe. And if I use it I suppose the prefilter sponge has to go? Thanks a ton

Build this and put into the bulkhead you used for the drain in the back box. You need to drill a small hole into the top of the cap, and may need to make it larger depending on the noise. Start small and increase the hole size accordingly. Just connect all the pieces with short pieces of PVC. I put one of these on my overflow box and it is now almost silent. Sorry about the poor picture.

I built 2 for RANE, and one for GrumpyOldMan, both regular dursos. They work fine as long as you have the room in the OF box.

Broncofishes dursos kick @$$ I have like 0 noise....and they are on 2 hang on overflows..If only Broncofish would read his E-mails..LOL
