why isnt skimmer working???

hi my skimmer quite working and i relized the pump on it was not doing anything so i got a new one, which is running but not pulling anything into the skimmer....what else could be wrong????

Unplug it and plug it back in. Pump might be running backwards. I didn't think it was possible, but it is. Have you ever seen a skimmer column pulsing up and down? Pump running backwards. Also, new skimmer? Might just need to be broken in.

Could also have a low load at the time being .

Could be. I know after a water change it takes awhile for my skimmer to start skimming. Once I feed and kick it back on tho....hear ya go skimming like a big dog. LOL
