why so cheap

i have been lurking on this board and the net in general studying a ro/di water filtration unit. i have found a ton of them with great prices on a popular auction site. why so cheap? you know the old saying you get what you pay for but some of these items are good name brand filters. i have made only 1 purchase off this site in my life and i got a watered down product so i am leary about buying anything on there, but the prices are hard to beat. can anyone recommend a specific seller ? or any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, if you've done your "studying" like you say you have you should know the cheap units use 100 gpd + RO membranes...they also use cheap, lower gradehigher micron pre filters...
The old saying holds true with just about everything...

I have one and it works great for me no problems and the water is great too But they dont do 100gpd my can do about 30gpd
