i have a ten gallon tank fowlr it has been set up for almost a year. it has around 15 pounds of live rock no sand. i have one clown fish and one yellow clown gobie they have both been in the tank since the beginning. two peppermint shrimp one brittle star and one large hemit crab. Do have trouble keeping snails alive . the light sits on the glass top it has a 5050 coralife bulb. and the power head for water movement. that is it no other equipment i change about one and a half gallons of water a week. I dont do top offs the water doenst evaporate dont ask me what the water is like i have never tested it in this tank. the only thing i lose are snails. everyone talks about how hard a small tank is i dont
understand why this tank doesnt crash im afraid if i start testing the water and worring about the paramaters it will all die. anybody else ever had an experience like this?

You're not alone ... Although I test water parameters now and then, I know a few people who don't do it at all anymore and they have reef tanks. At least you're doing regular water changes, this is very important. I would bet your salinity is to low for the snails.
More people than you think who have established systems rely on corals alone to let them know of water problems .... and I don't mean them dieing, just observation. Again, I don't think it's a good practice, but it is done.
