Why would a bta not be bubbled?

It is under 260 watts of PC on a 55. I got it about 3 months ago, at first it's tips were bubbled but for the last month or so they are straight like a condi anemone. It eats fine and looks okay otherwise. MY readings are:
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
nitrates 40
ph 8.2
sg 1.026
temp 80
Anyone?

There is no real reason. With as many BTA's as I have there are many of them right next to each other and some will have bubbles at the tip and others will be straight.
With an anemone in the tank you should also be testing for calcium and alkalinity.
What have you done to try to lower the nitrAtes?

I do large water changes to try and lower the nitrates. I started using RO recently also, so the trates are coming down. My calcium is high I think, it is 480. I will check my alk. and post it. So the tentacles not being bubbled isn't necessarily a sign that something is wrong?

I read somewhere that overtime, captive kept anemones will loose their bulbs mainly because of the lighting conditions. I'm not an expert but thats something I read, I dontknow if its true.

I'm sure if everything is ok, your BTA will have its bulbs back.
