why would my 12 blue leg hermit crabs all stay on my toadstool leather?

they started doing this two days ago, i kick them off but they keep coming back, so my coral hasn't open since.

D**** bluelegs! I knew they were evil!
My bluelegs do the same thing right before a shed. I don't know if there are any hermits that eat corals but I have not had a hermit eat a healthy coral.

I don't have any problems with my bluelegs past or present.
I find they leave everything alone until it has started to die(or shed in this case)....then they go for their meal.

Really, last time that happened in my tank, my fish and inverts were all hungover for about 3 days, wouldnt eat or swim.... ah those poor little guys, maybe a few more kegs and their tolerances will go up.
