OK I'm not gonna bore you with what it was, because it doesn't matter what got me. The point of this is to show the importance of wearing gloves, this is a mild reaction. I got lazy and decided to re arrange my tank a little, and didn't put on gloves. I always use gloves except today, for some reason I didn't think of it, washed my hands and just started puttering. well needless to say that was just dumb. I have done it before and not gotten nailed by anything, done it many times to be precise. now I have to check my self and make sure nothing is going wrong, in theory this could turn into a nasty reaction or even anaphylactic shock, I'm not that sensitive (I hope).
I know it doesnt look like much but it hurts like ^&%#$$#. honestly it feels like I'm burning my self with a hot brand.
I hope this re-enforces the importance of proper precautions when working in and around your tanks, thanks for taking the time to read this now here are the pictures

OK Heres the truth, I honestly dont know.
I pulled my hands out and washed then and noticed a little itchyness in both spots then it got hotter and hotter, and felt like it was burning. those pictures are about ten minutes after I pulled my hands out of the tank. I didnt feel it when whatever it was got me, I touched almost everything in my tank while re arranging so I dont have any way of knowing.

I don't wear gloves ever. Probably should but I just don't. I was rearranging several months ago maybe 3 months ago. I wasn't paying attention and my upper-under-for-arm(new word) was resting in my anenome that had climbed up the glass. Needless to say it took a little while for me to notice that I was touching it until it started burning like crazy and I realized what was going on. Still when I put that part of my arm in the tank it gets irritated and burns some.

you can buy arm length hobby gloves or LIke me buy powder free surgical latex gloves. just about any rubber gloves will work as long as they are powder free. if you get gloves with an loose back they tend to fill with water you can negate that by using a rubberband to close it tight around your wrists.

I had a urchin get me one time..it hurt like %#@#!! I still dont wear gloves though..Im lazy I guess.

Gloves are very important especially if your tank has a lot of live rock where critters like to hide. Or in my case, a COLONY of bristleworms living under a large piece of live rock and when I lifted it to lower the sandbed underneath it, my left hand grazed across about a dozen of them. In about 2 hours it was hurting so bad I was forced to rely on the dark painkilling powers of mister Captain Morgan himself. Gloves = very good idea!!!!!!!
