Just now he looks almost half way out of the tube like he's trying to catch food. Other then that he looks healthy. He threw a crown about 4 weeks ago and grew it back and looks beautiful.
If anything is normal is this normal? What is it trying to do? It has been in this spot for a long time and now looks like he might be trying to leave.
I have 2, the other one seems fine and has never lost the crown. I have had both for nearly 4 months in the current locations but this one threw it crown about a month ago and did move. It just made a new crown a few weeks ago and then about 4 days ago began slowly moving out of the tube. I thought maybe the water was to hard and changed it a bit and he went back in for less then a day as normal and then started doing this. It's ok if he wants to move. Maybe he is just looking for better digs. I thought they threw their crown and then moved and made a new tube and crown.
I just checked the tank tonight. the lights have been off for about 2 hours now and the feather duster has left his tube and is toward the back of the rocks maybe searching his new place. I hope he doesn't decide to setup house behind the rocks..doh!
Does this mean I need to pull out the old tube? Will it make the nitrates go up if it decays?
Unfortunately, some of my tubeworms have been killed while looking for a new home. I would take the tube out. I don't really think they decay though, I have had some empty ones before that didn't decay.
