Normally this wouldn't be a big deal to most folks but I have a big fear of flying. The furthest I have been so far is Vegas and that was a bad flight. My wife's tickets and hotel stay are paid for so I would just need to buy my tiicket. What to do, what to do. I haven't slept well for nights ever since I agreed to go. It's only going to get worse the closer the trip date gets here. I'm such a baby!!!!

lol, if I were you, I'd have a stronger fear of whoever hits on your wife while she's sitting there on the beach, without you.

Well.. a bit of the trip will be over water.. so that would make me feel safer :p
On the bright side.. once you get there you should totally snorkle over the reefs!

See your family doctor before you go and tell them about your fears. Heshe could prescribe something to help with your anxiety over flying. This is not uncommon at all.

just do it. Once you do you will realize what you worried about. We have a friend that NEVER, NEVER and I mean NEVER flew in her 45 years. In childhood her parents just never did, but her adult life she refused due to fear. She is a huge football fan (the details I forget), but she got tickets to the Superbowl. HAD to fly. When she got back she couldn't figure out why she was so nervous about it. She has been flying ever since
The thing you will hate the most is the amount of time. Looooong flight. I have never been there, but my sis in law went there on honeymoon and the trip itself is pretty long.
But soooo worth it.
Take lots of pics!!!!

Go to your doc.. Get some Xanex or something like it. Have a drink or 2 before getting on the plane. You'll sleep through the whole thing!

Get a script for x.anax. I totally had a fear of flying. I went to the doctor for something that would chill the fear but still not have me wind up in France somewhere because I was too out of it. It totally took away the fear, I was able to sleep when I wanted (which I totally couldn't do before) and I could stay awake and alert if I needed to. Th eone thing I noticed when I was landing back home... it even took away from feeling of excitement as well. For the first time I didn't have excitement butterflies. I used the meds until I didn't need them anymore. I started flying a lot, and through the use of the p.ills in the fashion they are meant to me used, I now need nothing to fly and actually quite enjoy it... like REALLY enjoy it now.

I hate flying....I would never take anything though...whether it be a drink or

[hr]
....I would be too scared that if we had a problem I would be too out of it to react...
Now if I had to opportunity to go to Hawaii....I would just suck it up....take a bunch of deep breaths, and just turn my mind best I can to something else.....
LOL...last time I went to NY, I had a stop over....well the plane that took me to my final destination was a prop plane
....Do you know I almost rented a car....LOL.....BUT I didn't, and obviously I'm okay....HAHA

This was what I was afraid of. I flew alone and would leave at 6am and arrive at my destination 2am the following morning. Many plane stops and many layovers. Being a small girl, I felt a little vulnerable as well. With a low dose of x.anax, you are alert when you want to be, you take a nappy when ya want to, and you never feel physically nervous.
I was the first flight into Texas after a hurricane. The ride was rough... the flight attendants were sitting. I was not one bit nervous while people were grabbing the chairs with white knuckles. I could see the fear everywhere, but could not feel it. I actually enjoyed the beauty of the storm outside.
I swear, being fear free for all those flights... I'm TOTALLY over my fear. It's really weird. Now, I'm sure that I flew so often helped, because I now recognize the "normal" sounds of flying and the "normal" events, but it would be a huge hurdle for you to get over if it actually keeps you away from enjoying cool places.

I do have a bottle of xan. I usually take a couple and have some drinks but my anxiety is still pretty high. When I was going to Toronto, I ask my doctor to call in something stronger. He did but he did it too late and I ended up going to Canada without it. I forgot about the prescription and the pharmacist called me about 1 week later to see if I still wanted the script. I explained that I needed it for the flight but since it was called in too late, I guess I didn’t need it anymore. He said that he just wanted to make sure because it was a pretty strong relaxer. I wonder what the heck It was.
Anyway, I will have to do some serious thinking about the trip. Or leave now on a boat!

see what plane you are flying on.most of the time it will be a huge one.we flew there in a 777 you wont even know you are on a plane its so big.i was going to suggest the helicopter excursion but thats probably out.the telescopes on the14,000 ft mountain is also awesome.not to mention the foot long tangs you can snorkel with.and then there is the dolphins that swim right up the the boats.i would love to go back again someday.hawaii is the cleanest state in the country.i saw everyone that smoked put their cigarette out then put it in a trash can.it really is a paradise dont miss out.

another thing to consider is that there really isn't anything going on during the flight proper, and the only time you hear or feel anything is during takeoff and landing, so that's about 2 mins worth of activity. to be honest, most of a flight is BORING...nap time!
and HI is TOTALLY worth going to, esp if you get to snorkel or scuba dive, it's like the hobby "comes to life" right there in front of you. sure beats the heck out of IMAX...

I totally understand...me too.
However you can’t let fear run your life right…so get some meds from your doctor to calm your nerves for the flight. Sleep until you land is my motto.

Take this from someone that would rather DRIVE THAN FLY. If it is a chance to go to Hawaii I do not care if I am in the BAGGAGE area I AM GOING. The only times that anything abd goes one is if 1 YOUR FLYING ANYTHING MADE BY AIRBUS. Sorry all my flights on them have been WHITE KNUCKLED could be that HAL FBW computer that will not let the Pilots be in command. 2 getting Thru AIRPORT Security the last time I flew was right after 9/11 and vowed afterwards NEVER AGAIN. See when I did the National Guard was still doing the checks and I had just had a GTC and was a little beligarant towards that MP.

wouldn't recommend the xanx with alcohol ....and then flying.
Those days are over. I think the two together made me more anxious. I'm making an appt today to see my doc to see what he can prescribe.
