Wikileaks Schmikileaks...

I'm all for free speech. I really am. It's one of the great fundamentals this country, and democracy in general are built upon. But since when did taking classified documents stolen from a government become "free speech"?
Maybe one of you crazy wikileaks supporters can tell me why I should be outraged at all the flak that Julian Assange is currently getting. To me, he just seems like that overly smart kid from high school who got tired of never being included in the right social circles, so this is his way of sticking his tongue out at all the cool kids.

I'm curious to know what this "poison pill" is he claims to have that he'll use if anyone tries to shut Wikileaks down. Apparently the UK doesn't approve of his little 'games'. They grabbed him, locked him up, and won't even let him post bail.
I suppose the supporters would say if you stop what this guy is doing, then you might as welll toss the 1st Amendment out the window. If you restrict him, what's next? The people who need to be hung up by the short hairs are the guys that gave him the information in the first place. Kinda validates the phrase, "Don't Shoot The Messenger."

I am just surprised that this guy has not been taken down in a very big way yet. Wow.

Anyone go and poke around there? Didn't find anything really cool, just some 'meh, interesting.' Nothing I wouldn't have expected to hear on the news eventually.

This guy is nothing but an America hater. All of his stupid little speeches and posturing amount to nothing more than that.
If he's so committed to government transparency and to expose the foul acts committed by government then swept under the rug, then tell me about this insurance file? From what I understand, the file contains a treasure trove of information that will be released on the world if something happens to Assange or Wikileaks.
Why has nobody pointed out the fact that holding back smoking gun type pieces of information for the sake of savings one's self when you claim to be all about exposing and transparency is hypocritical? He claims that he releases this information to save lives, yet he's holding back some of it so he can use it to protect himself. How is this man and this organization some great amazing thing when they do something like that?
Also, why the insurance file in case something happens to Assange? Obviously this is a man who thinks this is all about him. This isn't about Wikileaks which could continue if he was gone, it's about him and him alone.
Finally, what about the release of the cables that identify key sites around the world that are key to US national security? That information released on the world saves no lives. It serves no purpose other than to damage the United States.
This man is a piece of garbage disguising as a champion of the people, nothing more.

If the guy had not released the documents and simply stated for instance "The US has done this and I have the documents to prove it" I would probably have sympathy for the guy. But this clown has no experience or knowledge to understand what is and what is not damaging to our national security so releasing specific information is a security risk. The little punk who leak the documents to him should get up close and personal with a power sander and a blow torch as far as I am concerned.
