I have a few pieces I picked up from a tank tear down...unfortunately the tank had some sundial type snails... Will a FW dip for a few minutes eradicate these little guys? Thanks

could (like any invert from shock) but I wouldn't count on it. a few peices of what, coral? if so manually remove all the snails you see and dip whatever you got in lugols solution (per dip instructions), TLF Revive, Seachem reef dip, tropic marin pro coral cure or other effective coral dip. you can toss a few of the removed ones into your dip (typically 10-15 minutes worth) just to see how effective it is or isn't. I havent had anything but the corals themselves survive a lugols concentration of 40 drops per gallon for 15 minutes. I know nudi eggs may survive the dip so the same might apply for snails. you should do a good visual inspection and scrape off anything that doesn't look like it should be there.

No, sorry. Even if it got rid of all the snails, their very VERY sticky egg masses will be left on the rock. They will have to be removed manually with tweezers or something similar. I'll go find a pic I have. I use to keep a sundial tank.

Found it.
This is one actively laying eggs.

An egg mass left behind. This is what you'll need to target.

Alright,I dipped the corals in lugols and put them in the QT tank for observation...These are sundial "type" snail..I will take a picture of the offending snail and post...However,I do not think the ones I found are bad. My buddy swears these snails were the reason his Zoas were disapearing..I will try and get a good pic for positive ID..stand by.

Your picture isn't awesome, but I don't think those are sundials. They're easier to id if you can shoot a picture of the foot.
