I would say yes, most definitely.
Which brand/fixture do you have? I might be in the market for something similar for my 38g.

Well the 2 has 600gph and the 3 has 850. You have a 30 gallon...I know some people have 50X turnover.
It is really up to you ,how much turnover you really think you need. I have a mixed tank, maybe a SPS expert will chime in.

I wouldn`t use a 3 in that size tank. I have the 3 in my 48 gal mostly sps, i have 2 other powerheads run constant. I turn the 3 on once in a while to give the coral a little bath. it removes all the extra debris on rock and sand bed, but a little too much for me.

That tank's going to get hot and evaporation will be a concern. You might have to consider a chiller.
Might help you with flow. I have a 29g power compact reef. I have a 10g sump with a magdrive 7 return pump. I also have 2 koralia number 1's. My turnover is more than 30x which is recommended for SPS.

minimum of 25X is recommended for corals. I would recomend 2 koralia #1 on opposite sides of the tank. This will give you plenty of flow but also give you counteracting current. Very good for corals. If you have a canopy for your lights then just raise the lights or if not then you will most likely have to buy chiller. Not sure of your budget but IMO canopy is much cheaper to build or buy then a chiller.
