Hello i have a 55 gallon tank with a trigger and a lion it's been that way for about 4-5 months and i haven't added anything new. Do any of you think i'll have a problem adding a new fish like a puffer or another lion like a dwarf lion?

a trigger and lion in a 55 is already overkill.. get rid of the trigger and if the lions a volitan then get rid of it too and just get different fish.. thas my oppinion!

I wouldnt keep a lion and a trigger together. From what i have herd the trigger will rip the lions fins. If your lion is not a dwarf lion then i hope u plan on upgrading. Volitan lions need a larger tank then a 55 but should be fine for a little while. If you want to get the puffer get a small one like a valentini puffer. If you want another lion you can get a fuzzy dwarf, a fu man chu, A dwarf zebra (my favorite), an antennata, or a radiata. Many to choose from but i wouldnt get more then 2 lions. Four fish is enough and i hope you have really good filtration because they are really messy eaters.
So lets review, No trigger
Upgrade in the future
Good filtration
Four fish is plenty

I had a 6 inch humu humu and a volian in a 90 gallon for a year and had no problems. Maybe because the tanks was bigger though.

i have a Niger Trigger about 4 inches and a Volitan lion about the same size. There have been no problems at all. i have a cpr bakpak skimmer and in the process of making a dual 10 gallon fuge/sump.

ok those two are a def no no alone and together its just mean.. triggers and volitans both need over 100 gallon tanks and to be together without bugging eachother they REALLY have to have over 100g's if you plan on sticking with the 55 get a dwarf lion and a small puffer like the valentini! but dont add any till the two you have are gone.. it just wouldnt be smart!!!!!!

but your going for happy healthy fish not cramped ones you have to understand in the wild these things have an entire ocean and volitans get HUGE and triggers need a LOT of swimming room.. it's simply mean to keep them together or seperate in anything under 125! Just my oppinion.

I think my fish are happy and this is only a temporary thing until my VERY slow process of making a reef is completed then the fish will be traded in for credit. I know i can't have either fish full grown in a 55 gallon tank. i just need about 6 months to finish my reef project cause i'm poor heh

well its only my oppinion if i cant talk you out of it then cool they could out grow it if fed well in six months time! but then again they could not so just use good judgement with things!
