Will I mess up my cycled tank?

My tank (12g Aquapod open top) has been up and running just over a month now. I was unaware of some of the modifications that I should have made like blocking the 2 lower water intakes to improve surface skimming which I need. I would like to also remove the wall between chamber 1 and 2 to make room for a skimmer. I don't really see how I can do these now without draining the tank to complete. Will this totally screw with my system this far. I would transfer everything over to a 20 gallon for a few days to complete and then move them back. Same water and gravel. Anyone have any great recommendations?????? Thanks!!! :help:

I think you'll be fine. Are you taking the sand out, too? I've never removed the sand from my tank, but I've been told that it can start a "mini-cycle." If possible, maybe let your stock stay in the 20g for another day or two to watch the parameters in the 12g. Maybe someone with a little more tank-transfering experience will post.

I have read in a couple of places that some AquaPod owners block their lower in takes to get improved flow for their upper intakes and in turn better surface skimming.
BioCubes only have 1 upper and 1 lower intake...has any BioCube owner blocked their lower? Was there a success story to go with it and how did you block the lower intake?
As always, thanks in advance for any assistance!
