Will my finger leather be ok?

I have a finger leather that has some damage to the base that I believe was caused by high nitrate levels. Also I had a problem with high water temp for a couple of days, temp was 86. All other levels are excellent, nitrates are coming down and temp is stable at around 78.
There are 2 small damaged areas on opposite sides of the coral and do not look like they are spreading. The finger leather is a light brown, the color of the zooxanthellae but the damaged areas are white.
The fingers on the coral still fully expand and all the polyps are out. The coral looks to be in excellent condition except for the 2 small damaged areas.
Like I said earlier I believe the damage was caused by high nitrates are maybe the high water temp and I have or am taking every step possible to correct these problems.
My question is can this coral recover on its own now that all water conditions are improving?

Yes, with good water conditions the finger will recover. If possible increase the amount of water flow around the damaged areas to prevent detritus or bits of food etc. from settling in.
