Will my mushroom move to a spot that will kill it?

I got a bubble mushroom a couple days ago and rather than tether it down I decided to let it decide where it would like to go. Each night it moves and currently it is almost at the bottom of the tank with little light. Should I trust that it won't kill itself or should I move it higher and tether it down?

It will move to a spot it likes. When I got my mushrooms I placed them in there and they found a suitable spot. Although, if you want it in a certain spot, put it in a container with some sand in it on the bottom of the tank and leave it for a few days. Then when it gets some sand attached to it, find a spot you want and glue it down.

Just moved him to a little tupperware container with a piece of live rock rubble. This method seemed like the easiest and the least amount of handling involved. I probably already touched him too much.

I wondered the same thing flpriest. Anyway I took it out of the tupperware a couple days ago and it hasn't moved since.

just so you know this isnt a full proof method of keeping the mushroom where you want it... i have some very large green striped shrooms and i let them attatch to some rubble then glued them to where i wanted them. so far 2 of the mushrooms have decided to go on a walk about through the tank leaving a trail of baby shrooms its kind of neet to see but im not sure what im going to do with all the babies when they grow up...

You called it. It walked off last night and dug itself into the sand under a rock. I can barely see it now.
