will plain rock turn live

Yeah but it take a while. I f you plan on placing simple rock into your tank. The GARF web site will tell you the best way to create inexpensive personally designed rock.
it's quite neat - then after some time this rock will become live.

just be very careful wha tyou use in reference to plain rock, many of our every day rocks, can be detrimental in sw aquariums, even concrete, which many may think should be safe, any rock may have minerals which can leech into your system and wreak havoc, so be VERY SURE that you know exactly what the rock is, where it came from and where it has been, b4 deciding to use it
