Upgrade your Eclipse 3 lights for less by trading in your original light fixture and bulbs!
I just bought a used 29 gallon aquarium and stand with an Eclipse 3 hood that has the 23 inch SmartPaq retrofit kit with a 65 watt 10000K/Actinic 460nm compact florescent bulb. This kit was designed specifically for the Eclipse 3 (30X12) hood.
I live in a solar powered home, so I want to convert my hood back to the original dual bulb system which uses less power. The person I bought my aquarium from said he only used it for a few weeks and was selling because he was moving. He said he threw the original light fixture away.
The SmartPaq kit sells for about $70. This one is nearly new. I don't have the installation instructions, but it looks fairly straightforward. You remove the orginal dual light fixture and wire this in it's place.
