Will this heal?

Hi i'm new to this board and have been reading it for a few months, I came home from work last friday and found chaos in my tank. I have a tessalatta (18 inches) and a green moray (15 inches) in a 150 gallon, the green was attacked and had a few small nicks on this body, well the one i'm most worried about is a large gash right next to his breathing hole behind his eyes. i put him in a 45 gallon quarantine tank now and he's breathing and moving as he normally is but hasn't eaten at all. his neck area is about 1.5 inches in diameter and the gash is about .75 inches. I can see his gills right now. Do you think this gash will completely cover up his gill area (like he used to look) or will it need to be sewed back in order to heal correctly?
Note: I feed these guys daily and do 10% weekly water changes, so water quality is good. and i already know that these will get big so i don't need suggestions on size, i just need to know if someone else on this board has had a similar problem and if this guys will heal or need a trip to the vet.
Thanks in advance.

I'm moving this to disease and treatment...they can probably reccomend antibiotics. Your main problem was housing those two species together. Bo

he doesn't have any signs of having any infection but i'd like to find out if morays are known to heal almost completely if they have a wound or will signs of missing flesh always be visible. i know my lungfish has healed to almost 100 percent after being hurt by another lungfish before. this way i can conclude either to take him to the vet to get sewn up or leave him be. by the way i did put some maracyn 2 in his quarantine tank already. with no skimmer of course. what do you guys think? to sew or not to sew?
