will this live or die?

here is a plate coral that has been in the tank for about 6 weeks. For the last week it has continued to retract until it looks like this. Should I get it out now before it fouls the h2o or does it have a chance to rebound?

I watched one just like that decline over a week at the LFS after it's arrival. I doubt it will funk the tank up though. That is if it is established. If it were mine I would leave it and see, but I don't think it will rebound.

i hate to tell you this but it looks like it is gone to me as well
what are the rest of your tank specs and lighting + filtration etc. give us as much info as you can

Why is your SG so low? 1. 025/1.026 is the norm for a reef.

the recommend sg for a reef is between 1.021-1.025 most people keep theirs at 1.023 but you can also go higher than 1.025 i kepp my sg in my 10g. nano at 1.023 and my large reef at 1.025

ammonia (nh3) is at 0.1 but just did a H2O change so that should be lower.

Flamingkingofhe, why do you keep the sg different in your tanks?
Natural sea water is at 1.025/1.026, why lower it in your tanks?
Why not replicate where the animals are from? I not trying to start trouble, just a debate.
Clams (what I was told/read) should be kept at 1.025, lower than that it would be hard to keep alive. Why not corals and fish to? If you try to keep a healthy system, you would never have ick, right?(in a perfect world) I believe if you maintain your system close to natural levels (some alittle more) you will give all the animals their best chance to live. And they would be at their best growth rate. (can't argue millions of years) Some things are more forgiving like temp. Lots of folks say 80-83 degrees. The fact is at lower temps the fish live longer. But corals grow slower. So you put it anywhere between 70 and 85 degrees and all will be fine.

That plate is definatly dying if not dead, i would take it out asap, mine did that and my ammonia spiked and all my fish got ick, it was horrible, but thankfully all of my fish survived.

OPPPSS!!! I was just reading this to see what was up with the coral and the SG thing caught my eyes, my tank Sg is 1.021 and keep the temp about 80, so what have I been doing to my tank house mates if my SG is so low? damn! I thought it was right on

Lots of people say to run Fish only tanks in the lower Sg range because it is less stressful on the fish than the higher Sg.

Unsalted - Sorry for the inconvienence but the signatures have been disabled, not mod choice, owner choice. Several of the sigs got out of hand, long, longer, longest. They became a real pain to go through just to read the post and many were not being updated, and listed dead fish history that no one needed. There were some abuses as well. Thats the story. You can look it up withthe search button if you wish.

The carnation, goni, and sponge will follow.....don't take this as anything other than me telling you that you are trying to keep tough corals, and I see some disappointed coming for you.....the coral pictured is obviously on the way out....too much skeleton showing to come back in my opinion. I also realize you didn't ask about the other corals, but they caught my attention.....WOW you are stocking with some tough to keep stuff...good luck. I would probably just remove the coral at this point.....doesn't look like it has a shot at all. sorry. Just my opinion of course.
