It might help future outbreaks; but IMO the only CURE for ich is hyposalinity or copper. I suggest you post your problem in the disease forum and do a site search of "ich"; this parasite has a life cycle that you need to understand--or the treatment ideas won't make sense. Please hurry--your remaining fish don't have much time left!

I had a problem with ICk a couple of months ago. Hypo worked well for me. Just a pain to move all my fish into a Separate tank to do so, but everything lived....
I was thinking about getting a UV sterilizer. If you do get one let me know how it works out....

I have heard of people having a lot of success with a low flow rate. I think something like a 5 gph per watt. That way the UV has time to kill everything. It doesn't work well if the water moves to fast threw it...

and if you know the life cycle of ich, you will know that 90% of the parasites will live either in the sand or on the fish, and the time inbetween is very small.
yet again, uv sterilization will not cure or contain ich.

Right
What are the odds that all of the countless larvae developing in the sand will get grabbed by the U.V. intake before they find a fish? If you search and read the life-cycle of these parasites it makes this pretty obvious (at least to a dim bulb like me!) All you need is one live bug, and the cycle never ends.
