Windows movie maker HELP

I have windows movie maker, and windows movie maker 2.6. I have two big problems, one, i made a movie(for school thats due wednesday) on windows movie maker, and it wont play on windows movie maker 2.6 because it was made on the first version, Is there any way i can import/convert the movie to be able to play on version 2.6?
Second, both versions have stopped working like 50 times and i keep losing data, what could be causing this?
ps. i googled it, i tried there support thing and couldnt find it, or get live support so i figured maybe someone here could help me out. Any help would be GREATLY apriciated

the fourth one seemed to be what my thing is doing, i just dont know what filters to remove

Are you using any third-party video filters? I'd just start unchecking them one at a time and see if that helps with your hang-ups. At the same time, go through your entire video and see if anything is missing, or something doesn't run. If it doesn't, then apparently you need that filter for your video.

i removed all the filters, and the whole video works, but its right when i try to mess with the time line(move a clip or shorten a clip or sound) it says "Windows Movie Maker has stopped working" and then it closes and a box pops up and says theyll notify me if a soulution has been found.

I also read on one of them that some MP4's or AVI files you use may not be compatible with the version of WMM you're using. They say you need to convert them to a format that will work with your version of WMM.
