Well me and my friends were all looking at the tank when all of a sudden one of my pepperment shrimp bursted with at least a hundred baby shrimp. So i was thinking of gathering them and putting them into a 2.5g with an airstone and feeding them phyto plankton, but when they get bigger what should i feed them, should i feed them the plankton until there big enough to eat brine shrimp or mysid shrimp?

I have no idea what to feed them, but congrat's on the new shrimpies....I would get them out ASAP if there are other fish in the tank otherwise you won't have to worry about what to feed them as they will become food.

I dont think this batch will make it because i wasent prepared, but after looking in my tank i see that the same shrimp has eggs again, so all 4 of them are pregnant. i think the coolest part was how the shrimp released her babies, she went to the top of the tank and jetted backwards a couple of times and all of the babies went scattering in the tank, needless to say my fish were startled and happy at the same time, for an extra feeding that day. lol

Congratulations on your successful reef tank!!! Are you able to pull out the mother before she bursts and put her in the 2.5? But, since you have so many, I guess it would be hard to tell them apart so you can see how long she has the eggs for. Or maybe by the way she looks before she releases them. Does she have that glow?! Or, you can look at it the way I do with my clownfish. They spawn every 10 days. Free food for the tank, mostly the pods and worms since the fish are all sleeping when they hatch.

When she has the eggs in her she ust looks big and bloated, but later on she gets bigger and you can see some of the eggs bulging out as they grow, but in the end the eggs look silverish and thats when she went up to the top of the tank and jetted backwards a few times, wow what a way to enter the world!!
The baby shrimp were released while the lights were on so the fish just went up there and had a feeding frenzy.
Tiberius, what do you mean by that glow??

I was being facetious!! Adult women are often told they are glowing because of their pregnancy.
