I know that this fish is nearly impossible to keep alive but for the price that they are on saltwaterfish I must try. I am wondering if there is a way to get myself on the waiting list for them when they are not shown at all on the web site.

Thanks for the advice. I have an order coming from SWF and it is shipping thursday and I have to pick it up from Fedex because it is too cold to delier. Have either of you had any experience with this fish. I have done more research and am leaning away from it because it seems like a sure death warrent for the fish.

This is an unfortunate part of the hobby, but a rather unsettling amount of Butterflyfish that are routinely available, such as that Meyeri, that have 0% chance of living in a home aquarium (and I strongly stand by that). For clarification, from my understanding after conversation with SWF, SWF does not 'order' these fish, but is at the mercy of their vendor, who sends a "bulk shipment" of fish that happens to include these guys. It's not that SWF orders X amount of clowns, X clowns, etc. They get what they get sent to them.
I personally tried to keep a Meyeri and failed as well. I exactly don't have problem with people who want to try and keep these fish, as long as they plan on doing something that they think might lead to success, that hasn't been tried before. Squirting a bunch of enriched brine/mysis into the face of a Meyeri, would consist of 'something tried before.' So would the promise of "just buying a $15 SPS frag for him to eat every week." If you are genuinely interested in trying and would like some input, I'll gladly help.

I am really starting to shy away from this fish because I am not willing to spend the money required tobuy the corals to feed the fish. I am now leaning more twoards an eclipse butterfly, which is actually on sale on SWF right now, but that will be later down the road for me.
