LOL..I imagine salt is very corrosive and would eat up the wood in no time, metal can’t even hold up to salt. Those petrified driftwood branches are like concrete.
They do make a ceramic tree root looking thing you could use, and adding rock with it would look really cool in a tank.

I'm pretty sure some hardwoods or redwood would not rot, but I don't what they would add to a tank. I know some people use manzanita in freshwater tanks, but I have not herd anything about saltwater.
