Anybody that buys corals needs to quarantine them & dip them . If not then you can add unwanted items to your display tank. I found a dealer that gets his corals direct from Tonga & I saved a bunch of money But now I have real big problems with spiders, & aiptasia. So never take a chance with fish or corals. QT all & don't be in a hurry.

Dip in fresh water for how long? Literally a dip? Or about 5 seconds or so?

also, my qt tank has very basic lights, like the kind that comes on it when you buy the tank from walmart... very cheap, very low power... how am i supposed to quarintine my corals with this bad lighting?

Wonderfull advise!!!! All of us in Disease and Treatment thank you for that. So many issues can be avoided with proper quarantine.

You dip them in fresh water for how long?

If you dip a coral in fresh water you can say good bye to it.

They make a coral dip, basicly iodine, read the directions. I always dip my corals before adding to the display, after careful inspection. Quarantining is a better way to be sure that all the pests are gone.

I have a 10 gallon doing nothing. Maybe I will make it a qt. What kind of light would I need for it though, if I was to keep the coral in it. Also how long am I going to leave coral in there for??
