Worm or worm-like creaturs

has anyone experienced creatures in their saltwater tank that look like worms? They have a thickness of dental floss, are white, and extend out from various live rock in the aquarium. they seem to react to touch and light(specifically when the lights are off). We are concerned whether they are healthy or not for the tank?
Seperately we've noticed some orange "string-like" creatures appearing in the crushed coral bottom with the same general features. Any thoughts or concerns are appreciated.

Sounds like tube worms to be very general about it. They are a good thing. Expect to see plenty more, they filter feed which does benefit your tank.

You could be describing any number of worms, spghetti worms, baby bristle worms (in the substrate) and others, but probably things that are good for your tank. Check out this link, lots of good info on those things we just didn't know we had:)
