Worm thing near my snail

Please help me figure out what this is! For the past week or so this worm looking thing has been on or near my snail. Does anyone know what it is? Also, I have had a hard time keeping my fish alive, could this be the reason?

post this topic in hitchhikers and id please. you will prolly get a quick id of this worm there. not sure about your fish dieing. i would first start with testing your water. post would your readings are. we will go from there and figure out the problem.
