Would a company like AGA do this?

Tonight I was browsing on this list of Craigs, and came across this add. This is a qoute from the seller about All Glass Aquariums 150 gallon tank design:
"This Tank Was Purchased Before ALL-Glass Started To Produce The Thinner Cheaply-Made 150 Gallon Fish Tanks, To Keep Selling At The Price Level The Previous ½” Thick Glass Were Selling At. A Very Misleading Scam. These Newer Tank’s Front And Back Glass Pains Bow As Will The Bottom if not supported…. Causing the tank to crack and dump its contents!
Hence The Added Second Cross Bar At The Top Of The Tank!!!! I Would Never Buy One Of Those Tanks."
Is this true? My 150 was made in the late 90's if I recall from what the sticker said when I bought it. Mine is 1/2" glass and has two cross braces along top and bottom. I imagine mine is not the "new" design. Anyway, I have heard a few horror stories on here about blow-outs. I am quite paranoid being a homeowner and responsible aquariast. Is this quite common for tanks to blow out? Does the glass literally burst or seals begin to leak? Again, is this guy speaking the truth, and how common are these stories?

Any glass tank will bow if not supported correctly.
I've had a lot of AGA tanks over the years, and I know a lot of people who've had AGA tanks over the years. Problems can happen with any brand, but I don't think a blow-out is common with the "newer" tanks.

I have a 150 AGA, but it is the X-tall, 48x24x31. I bought the "first" one about 5 years ago, and it was definitely the 1/2" glass. But I did have the bottom crack about 2 years into the deal. No it didn't blow out, but thank god I was home, I heard a loud pop, and then it sounded like the faucet was running, except it was coming from under the tank
. Long story short, when I took the tank back to the store it was bought from, AGA gave them a really hard time, and tried to swindle their way out of replacing a tank, was it on the AGA stand, was it level, was it on a concrete floor, etc. 5 hours later, and numerous e-mails they agreed to ship a new one. Now 3 years later the "second" tank is still holding water, no problems since. Such is life, at least they held to their warranty.
Too bad most of my fish committed suicide in the buckets and tanks they were put in for the 4 days it took to get a new tank.
