If the alternative was no QT; I'd do it. You'll need plenty of bio-filtration & flow, constantly monitor ammonia (a good time for one of those stick-on ammonia monitors) and do plenty of water changes. If you keep water change water mixing for your DT here's what I'd do: 1-2X daily, dump a gallon of QT water, replace it with a gal of DT water, then replace the DT water with the new stuff. This gets fish acclimated to the DT water and changes water in the DT at the same time. A bit of effort; but what you're doing requires it; plus chromis are very hardy.
Actually it's not that much extra work because that's what I already do with every water change in every tank.
I have a 90 gal tank in line before the sump of my big tank. Whenever I want to do water changes in any of my other tanks I:
1. take the 90 offline
2. drain the water to be discarded from the object tanks.
3. replace the discarded water w/water from the 90.
4. once the needs of every other tank in the house are satisfied I refill the 90 w/RODI and add salt.
5. bring the 90 back on line.
