on my 125 I tried a 55 and it left about an inch to access it so I scrapped that and have a 40 long

I tried a 55 and it did not fit without taking one of the center braces out on the stand so I got a 40 breeder. What I did was got the tank from my LFS and would keep it in the cardboard it came in and see if it fit and if it did not then just return it and get the next size down. the 40 breeder was the only thing that fit. I even tried a 40 long and it did not fit and did not give me much room for my skimmer.

here are some pics that I just took of it. please dont mind the mess in there. everytime I get it cleaned I end up moving something or adding something. the dimensions of the doors are 16 3/4 wide and 21 3/16 high. if anyone has any suggestions I am open. I really want to get rid of the wet/dry and the remote fuge.

Thats going to be a tough one. I have a custom stand that has 2 larger doors. I think your best bet would be to do like I said and buy a 40 breeder and see if that fits. If it does not return it. Juts dont scratch it or anything. Or you could get 2 smaller sumps. One for return and skimmer and one for the fuge. Just connect the two by a 2" bulkhead. You could use like 2 30x longs.

Wait, isn't a standard 55 18in tall? I believe it is. You would have plenty of room under there for the 55. Servicing it might be tight, but no tighter than doing 2 30 gal. The only trick is getting it into the stand. No you wont have to drain it. Just temporarily take out one of the braces between the doors. Slide the 55 in and replace the brace. No problem. Likewise if you want to cut a hole in the side of the stand then slide it in that way. But then you have to repair the hole. The other way is a piece of cake really.
