blue tang
yellow tang
purple tang

snowflake eel
no coral or inverts
about 250-270 pounds of live rock, 120 pounds of live sand and 2 deltec MCE 600's for filtration

Not for a long time. Its still only a 6 foot tank. All those fish listed except lionfish and eel are open swimmers. Blue tang and emp really need an 8 foot tank onve they hit a foot ot so.

I don't recommend placing a yellow and a purple tang together. They're both Zebrosoma tangs and are known to fight. In that size tank you might have a little more luck, but with so many options for fish, why risk it?

i would of thought a 6ft 180 G would be enough for a blue tang ?
how do you think a dwarf angel would go with the eel ?

I personally think you'd be ok. In a tank that size the purple/yellow if introduced at the same time should be just fine. "Should be"

Snowflake eels grow very slow. Get one smaller and enjoy him. Depends on which dwarf angel you want. some stay tiny some get around 5 to 7 inches

Lions are friendly fish. They use their venom for defense. When fish get impaled by a lion, it's usually an accident.
The length of your tank is fine for a tang.
You can see 3 tangs in this 180. They all get along. Were all adults or close. Been together something like 3 years.

do you have a qt set up? if not get one. Go atleast 40 gallons. You will have ich issues if you do not do this. 3 months or if you buy mature rock whenever you want.

+1
Get a QT tank up and running before you buy fish! You'll kick yourself if you don't QT your fish.

yehp will get a QT tank, have a spare 40 and 55 G tank so i will use one of them , wasnt sure about what filtration to use , maybe a small amount of live rock and a cannister filter ?
today i found a fish shop that had a live rock special were they were selling the LR for $8 per kilo(2.2 pounds). This is a very good deal in australia as the next best that i have ever seen is $14 per kilo. The problem is i dont yet have a protein skimmer or any powerheads.I have the 180 G tank but It dosent yet have a stand or hood which is being custom made so the live rock cant go in their at the moment.
i have a number of empty smaller tanks, can i buy some live rock and just keep it in these tanks ? what equipment do i need to do this and will moving the LR to the larger tank cause any problems ?
thanks for all the help

Cranberry, it the tang to the left of the yellow tang a vlamingi? I would love to have one of those.
Yes.
I would ditch the snowflake. They get big and my husband has scars to show they get mean. We couldn't get rid of him.... not even for free. No one, not even the LFSs in the area would take him. He died in a GFCI accident. He was too old to have gone out that way.
That angel is too big for a 180 IMO.

a more likely senario is the others (especially any angels) kill the lion
even with its venomous spikes ? by the way i am not going to get the large angelfish , just one of the dwarf angels
perhaps i have the wrong idea about a lionfish, i am thinking that all that needs to happen is for a lionfish to somehow touch another fish with its large spikes and it could kill it .Is this not the case ?
