A friend of mine has a FOWLR tank and is selling it. Since there are no inverts, he has used COPPER SAFE for ich. Question is, he is selling...can I buy the Live Rock and put it in my reef? Or will the Copper Safe tag along...

it would be a bad idea to put the rock in a reef tank. it may relase copper into your tank at any given time.

Even if it is Mardel's Copper Safe? A few people have told me that if you do enough water changes, it actually leaves the tank...unlike something like Copper Power?!?!

when i had my first tank i dosed with copper safe b4 and i had issues keeping inverts for a long time i didnt realize my LR was holding onto some of the copper and leaching back into the tank enough to keep kiling snails
IMO i wouldnt ever put anything into a reef tank thats had copper on it
