Wrasse Capturing???

I need to remove my Wrasse from my reef tank and need to get some ideas on how. I don't want to take my tank apart and I would like not to have to buy an expensive trap. An ideas or experience would be great. Thanks.

hmm..you don't want to take apart your rocks (i'm assuming you mean your rocks when you say your tank) and you don't want to buy a fish trap. It's hard enough to catch the wrasse even when you do take apart your rocks, and you don't want to do that. So I hope you got a magic wand.

Good luck. If my six line doesn't want to be found he turns invisible and he's too fast to catch. I don't look forward to moving next year.

I've been tring a few home made versions of a trap but no luck yet. When I moved my tank and had the rocks out it was easy for me to get him. If I have to then I'll go fishing and just take off the tip so I can remove him from the hook. I tried to lure him in oner trap with shrimp on a string. I'll go for that as long as it doesn't get close to a trap. This will be a last resort.
P.S. I want him out since he is not reef safe and likes to eat my Hermits and Shrimp.

ok, here is how you do it.

Get a two liter bottle, remove the label.
cut it in half with a razor blade, along where the top of the label used to be. remove the cap and invert the top portion of the bottle. then slide it into the bottom piece until both cut edges are aligned. seal it with packing tape, then bait with some frozen brine. this is sure to catch any wrasse, goby or otherwise. just let them get used to it being in the tank before you bait it.

Yeah that sounds great. I tried a few different traps but all involved me dropping a net or something and the fish are too smart for that; and too fast. I haven't had time to think of a more involved trap but this one sounds really good..
One thing. Should I lay it on it's side so it's more easy for the Wrasse to enter or stand it straight? I'll give it a go this Wednesday or Thursday and let you know.

1 way i found effective is add a little bit off flakes and wait with a net.(You have to be fast) When it surfaces then swipe it up. Worked for me everytime. Or find out where his burrow is and wait until he goes to sleep, take a clear platic bag and put it over his rock then start digging under the rock closing him in. Then get him to swim to the top adn then close off the bag and let everything else out.
