wrasse problem

its a clown coris wrasse, Coris Gaimaird, usually reef safe, but do easily depopulate snadbeds of critters. i have had one in my 135 for three years now (he started back in my 75) and is about 6 inches long and still not fulley grown. the only problem i have with him is that he can knock corals over hunting for pods, and he has killed several clams by flipping them over or covering them in sand, but this has been my only arguement against him!
good luck

Thanks for your quick reply
He just seems to keep going into them and they close up, I paid a lot of monry for this coral. He is so fast I don't think I could remove him.

if hes just swimming into them, it shouldnt be a problem. now if you saw him take a bite out of one of them or somethign, then you might worry!
good luck

no offense
it could be the wrass and all
but your tank doesn't look like its in the best condition, which could be causing your problems...........I see to much green and not enough purple. Maybe its just me but I think the wrasse might not be doing it.

It's hard to tell from the photo, but it looks like just a few are munched, right? My tang has taken a few nips out of some of my polyps. Just a bite every once in a while. The polyps always come back, and I like the tang too much to get rid of him. As long as it's not really doing damage, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Lots of things get bitey every so often. My LFS guy told me today that he had a call from another customer whose Maroon clown mowed down all the arm/tenticles from his alveopora. Now that's when you have to worry:D !

I recently removed what is either a red coris or a formosa wrasse(yours looks like mine did when we added it)....it never munched corals...but it was disruptive and did eat crabs/shrimp...they may be "reef safe" but I for one will not have another wrasse in my reef....except possibly a 6-line.
Mine now resides in my fish only system.
