Wrasse question

i currently have a 150 long tank, and would like to add a wrasse of some sort, i like the red coriss and the tusk, but was curious about the kind of sand bed either one requires? i've heard differing opinions about needing a deep bed for the coriss, but don't know whether the tusk requires a sand bed to burrow into?

Red Coris do require a deep sand bed 4"+...without it, they will not survive.
Tusk do not require a deep sand bed...they do not burrow.

My Red Corris wrasse has about a 2.5 inch bed of sand he is about 13 inches and very healthy they just need enough to cover themselves at night. He is very active but they need that secuirity blanket at night and if they get spooked.

thanks for the responses, other than the harlequin tusk, anybody else have any interesting wrasses that don't need a deep sand bed? having trouble picking the next inhabitant for my tank. only plan on adding one more, so trying to look at all options. currently have 5" black hawaiian trigger, 4" humu humu, 28" zebra eel, and 5" passer angle.

I have a harlequin tusk. As stated earlier, he does not require a deep sand bed. He would be a good addition to your tank. Have you looked into getting a tang? They are of the right size for your other inhabitants and they have unmatched colors! Also, since you only have fish which are (or will eventually be) of decent size, you might want a lionfish.

have thought about a lion, but had a little concern about putting one with the triggers. although for the time being, neither one has displayed any sort of aggression, i've heard horror stories of fin nipping. plus, my first fish was a lion, he was about 3", he acclimated well to the tank, ate live food like a hog. i tried to ween him off of the live food (tried almost everything, garlic additives, feeder stick, different foods) but nothing seemed to be working. So, I tried to let him go for a little while without any, in the hopes that he would take the frozen. He didn't, and he became extremely slow and sedentary. I believe it was at this point, I don't have any proof, because he disappeared, that I think he was caught and eaten by a medium sized strawberry hermit crab. So long story short, I'm a little wary of trying a lion again.
