Will a Green Bird Wrasse and a Tusk co-exist?
I have killed the idea of the Lunar, but is the Bird just as territorial? Can't see how he would hurt anything with that nose.

The Bird wrasse should be fine, they are not territorial but very fast swimmers. I love mine, had him about 3 1/2 years now, he has been great with everything over the years. I took him in because he would kill gobies, but I don't keep anything like that.

Hello-I have a birdnose, a coris, and a pinklined wrasse-all 3 are big wrasses and they get along fine no problems-but you do have to have a good size tank for them-they are very big eaters-and they should be with other big fish-tank size for these bigger wrasses I think-150 or greater... :happyfish

Well 6 months later I found a show sized Green Bird and added him last night. No problems at all.
So far so good.....Awesome colors.

How do green birds do in a reef tank? Are they invert killers like the Lunare wrasse? Would they go after smaller fish like damsels or chromis? There's a green bird over at a local ***** that's been in this 20 gallon tank for at least 5 months that I was thinking of rescuing. But I don't want to stick him in a tank full of inverts, coral, or small fish if he's going to decimate them all.

I have a fairy wrasse that gets along wonderfully, i would monitor the bird wrasse with corals and inverts.

Oh yes, they will eat all inverts, I have yet to find one that can survive my Bird Wrasses, Snails, Crabs, Urchins, Stars and any life in the rock, including bristle worms. My male will kill smaller fish, I would not trust one in a reef, Great fish to have though.

Yes, he will. I was trying to get my Lion to eat and caught some Grass Shrimp (aka Ghost Shrimp) and minnows from the bay and the Bird Wrasse ate them right up. He looked like a FW Gar with a 2-3" minnow sideways in his beak.

nice looking bird and tusk, they should do well together, I keep a paddlefin with my tusk with no issues. I think the body shapes differ enough to keep them from being aggressive with each other.
