IMHO, you need to look at body size, shape, coloring and the feeding/resting habits of each fish to help with compatibility. Avoid crowding the tank with too many sand dwelling/feeding fish, and so forth.
One fish won't look at another and recognize it as another wrasse and fight it for that reason.
Some wrasse species prefer the bottom and substrate of the tank, some prefer the top for feeding and rockwork for resting.
Many of the fairy wrasse species are quite pretty and docile but active. Generally they are the max size you mention.

well i just realized i can mix wrasses. =(
so im looking into another fish at the lfs. i have never seen it before. it looks like a canary blenny but has the coloring of a b/g chromis.. and for 15 $ so its a cool looking fish.
i wanted to get a possum wrasse but i dont want ne more beating up in the tank. my stupid rusty angel picks on my 6 line and everyone for that fact. except for my goby. he will try to eat my angel lol
he doesnt take anything from anyone. it might be almost impossible to catch a rusty in a 90 gal tank. with about 50-60 lbs of lr.

I have a yellow wrasse and it's a very active fish, always swimming aroud the rockwork, never bothering my other fish. At night it sleeps under the sand. A24g nano would probably be too small though.

A yellow wrasse grows to about 5" and they like to dart around. The recommended tank size for them is 30 gal.

Hi Bill,
Well I had a beautiful yellow coris wrassse for about 2 years and one day he was missing and around 4 weeks later I dicovered him dead behind the tank on the floor! What a nice fish that was. He must have jumped out when I was cleaning the glass tops upstairs. I got a lunaree wrasse like 2 months ago and what colors on him! He's about 3 inches and gets along pretty much with all the fishes. He chases the green bird wrasse which I've had for 2 years also but he is like 6 inches now. I had a sixline but he died for some unknown reason. Maybe nitrates were to much for him? Who knows. Get yourself a lunaree wrasse. Good luck!

Hi,
Yes a very cool wrassse. Mine jumped out as you read so watch out if you take your covers off. Also they love to bury themselves in the sand and hide for a few days. Thats what mine did anyhow. I would love o get another one but haven't seen one since I got this one 2 years ago.
