I just set up my Seahorse tank this weekend or shall we say the residents moved in this weekend. We are now looking for safe corals and algae or plants that can be grown in the tank with them. They have plastic plants that have been there during cycle that I want to replace. Please let me know what ya got if you have anything! Shauna1980@gmail.com Shipping would be to FL just so anyone knows unless you happen to be local in the Jacksonville area!

If you don't mind me asking, but how long has the tank been up?
Hubby is wanting to setup a tank (39 cube) we have sitting on the side as a pony tank and I've been telling him that it takes more time to get that tank ready than any of the others, just because of the maturity that the tank needs to have and the pristine/stable water parameters. He doesn't believe me.

Well to be honest it was a quick set up for us. I had read up on them and knew we were going to do it but not as quick as we did! We fell in love with the two ponies we found at the LFS though and set the tank up over the weekend! They didn't go in until today later in the day though. We "shouldn't" have done it this way but the LFS said we would be okay doing so. We used Caribsea black and white live sand just as they had done and then used distilled bottle water to get it up. Cut corners to do this yes but other then the salt no chemicals added. I would do it as you said however it can be done the other way as we did it but not as safe IMO!

Nope not yet it hasn't. It is in cycle as we speak but there in it and my goby as well. My other tank we have was done pretty much the same way and we had no problems. The CUC and my royal gramms were added a few days after set up and then the others came later on. I wouldn't IMO do it the way I did, but it is up to you. I have kids involved as well though who do not understand waiting a while when there in love! We have had no problems yet but there could be down the road due to this way. I do have a back up tank though that is established if we have to emergency miove them. Good luck and all I can say is don't let her fall in love like we did before the set up is ready, unless you have a tank they can stay in for a few days like we did!
