wut do i feed some hitch hiker clams???

i just got a piece of LR w/ 2 hitchhiker clams how do i tell if they are alive?? and if they are what do i feed them ????

If they open then close once disturbed they're alive. No supplemental feeding is necessary, they will filter feed by themselves.

so thery need to be by the filter??? im not sure what filter feed really means

Filter feed means they suck up water and pull out, or filter, the small plankton to eat.

I have a hitchhiker clam that I pretty much abuse.. I had him for about 4 months in the lowest flow area of my tank behind the rockwork and squeezed between several rocks... last night I moved my rocks and decided to place him on top.. and to my surprise he was alive and well
Dont worry too much about feeding these guys. Like viper said they'll just suck up whatevers floating around.
