Xenia in a blender?

i recently bought some xenia and noticed that there are alot of small pieces growing around the base of the large ones. i was curious after reading the thread on mushroom in a blender.
since xenia apparently grows like weeds... if i was to chop up some xenia and put it into a little container with some rocks floating in my tank is it likely that the xenia will grow back

I would assume it would work if they were not small peices, maybe no smaller than a pencil eraser. I can't stand the smell though. Yuck!

i'm thinking it may not work unless you blend it for a millisecond...the way they slime up i would think they'd deteriorate...but who knows, you could try it out and see

Why???? Except just to see if it can be done?? I am not condemning the idea, just wondering why you would want more weeds than you allready have??

I think they really shouldnt recommend xenia to beginner tanks. Everybody I talk to after says they regret it.

i personally think they are one of the best for beginners...it was my first coral ever....yes it CAN be a weed, but there are plenty of ways to make sure it doesn't happen....like putting them to one rock and to make sure you put removable rocks around that to keep them on that spot.
i personally think they are amazing too watch them pulse like that

I agree with everything you said. I have sold lots of it to my LFS and it sells like hot cakes. Very amazing coral IMO. Like you said, keep it contained to one area and you should be ok. I let mine grow everywhere in my 55 because i can easily get to all the rocks to harvest it. I only have 1 rock of it in my 150 and i keep it contained, but i would never have a tank without my pink pom pom xenia. Its the only xenia I keep though.

xenia are like weeds. if your tank chemistry is right, you'll have more then you know what to do with.
I was lucky enough to find a lfs that would take them in on trades for other coral since they are delicate shippers. LAX airport to Newark airport to Monmouth county NJ is a long bumpy ride for xenia.
Putting them in a blender most likely would not work anyways since they are so delicate to ship, I think a blender would just slim them up and choke them put.
If it were to work, my god you would have a tank of nothing but xenia.
If you want a lot, make the mistake I made. Place rocks right on the base of the stem and with 1-2 days they will attack and start to move on the rocks. You keep placing rocks at the base , then you have frags out the wazoo to trade with LFS and other keepers.
It may get to the point were your throwing them outside.

i and hoping to grow them and sell the to recover atleast a few dollars... this hobby is kinda expensive and addictive lol. i actually got the xenia from the LFS for free cause he has so much and is moving to a bigger location. his theory is for me to use the xenia as a sort of trial coral cause obviously if the xenia cant survive in my tank then it would be hard for anything else to survive.
im not serious about using a blender for the xenia because i think that would destroy the blender and stink up the house for the next 25 years. just a random thought.
