xenia makes me so mad.

i cant keep zenia! Do not know why? i bought one a while ago and shrivelled up and died. just bought one today and is doing the same thing!! nitrates are a lil high but everything else is fine. what is going on?

how high are your nitrates? When you say fine are nitrite and ammonia levels both zero? How old is your tank?

Try clove polyps.. same look hardier coral. I have not had luck with xenia either but i bought a 6 polyp frag of clove polyps in april and it has grown like crazy i have given frags away to friends, and i still have 3 large colonys in my tank.

tank is about 5 years old but only 5 months reef. ammonia and nitrite are at 0.the highest temp is 81

LOL! you may be on to something xenia loves my tank, but clove I couldn't grow to save my life.

What kind of lights and how far off the water surface? I have pulsating pom pom that I have just given to friends too. I started it very low and it quickly spreaded up each rock until it got to the top. It just keeps multiplying, but I do notice that the heads all the way at the top seem to stay content (not spreading as much), so maybe they don't like the heavy light, or maybe they like rocks to spread "up"....

sorry to hear that u cant keep xenia. i wish my xenia and clove will just wither away. its better u cant keep them bc they r rather invasive.

i have a 200 watt light. it is in the middle. i woke up this morning and the xenia was white and all shriveled up. haha guess i just have bad luck!

Unless it's already on the bottom, move it lower, further away from the light (but not out of the light) and see what happens.
