Xenia Troubles

I bought a single stalk of Xenia for my eclipse nano (2x13watt PC's.) I drip acclimated it for an hour and then put it into the tank. It hasn’t perked up since. My ph is at 8.2 and I haven’t had any fish in there but just in case I did a water change last night. My sg is at 1.023-1.025. At the fish store it was white and pumping and now it is gray and not pumping much.

Might have something to do with eighter light change from LFS or ALK levels. What are your ALK readings?? How long has it been in the tank?? What size tank is it in?? Do you have it high in the tank, or lower?? I would suggest it be placed in the upper level if possable. :)

How long has it been in your tank? Both my xenia species took at least 2 days to fully open up after I acclimated them.

You should get an alk test kit. They sell the salifert ones on this site. It's easy to use and accurate.
Like I said in my previous post, mine took a couple days to open up. So I wouldn't worry.

Did it start pulsing yet? Sometimes they pulse and sometimes they don't. I've read they may stop pulsing for months and then start up again.
One of mine pulses all the time. The other pulses during the day and slows down or stops at night. It also stops pulsing when the current is off.

took mine two days to puff up and start to pulse.....with mine iv found that it pulses alot when the pumps are off and shrinks into a small blob at night

Water conditions are not necessarly "bad" when they stop pulsing, but they may be changing. The first thing you may want to check is the PH. They rapidly loose their pumping action when the PH drops below 8.2.

Xenia is really kind of weird in the sense that it will be doing great and then all of a sudden it will just melt down on you. I've been told that they do better in a systems that are a little dirty (Small trace of nitrate).
My water param's are:
Nitrates are not 0 but 1-2ppm
Phospates are not at 0 either
pH 8.5
Calcium 420-450 (Drip Kalk 24/7 for Evaporation)
I would check your water movement and parameters. By the way do you add Iodine to your system??
