hey guys. i finally got some rocks for my 40gal tank that i recently started.
its about 50 pounds.

so i bought this hang on sump and its not giving a lot of water flow. the water is coming out of the return pipe but its like bubbling instead of like full force flow. like this...

i dont know if its supposed to be like this... maybe the return pipe is too big?
and i recently put my protein skimmer inside it to make more room in my tank. i hope this is ok...

im gonna buy some cheato when my tank is done cycling. its almost done. its been like a month already. so if u guys see anything thats not supposed to be like how it is, then please let me know.

Is there something inside that return pipe? Kinda hard to tell. What is the water level like where the return pipe is, like deep enough? Are the bubbles coming from the skimmer maybe?

yay finally an answer!
no the skimmer is innocent. i had the sump running b4 i put the skimmer and it was bubbling.
there is nothing in the return pipe and pipe isnt deep its towards the top but its completely under water.
its not producing a lot of flow.
what is a cpr bubble trap?

its always going to be there. the problem is that the water is exiting your hob sump/fuge halfway of the diameter of the pipe. this causes air to be sucked in and therefore creating bubbles. you can raise the water in the hob fuge by adding some foam or something to slow the flow going back into tank raising the level inside the fuge, but its really dangerous. my cpr bak pak overflowed because i was trying to prevent the bubbles. after it overflowed, i didnt even care if the bubbles were there. the external bubble trap is the only thing that would work but looks hella ugly.
