i have been enjoying my 55g saltwater tank for a little one year now and have not lost any fish other than two one got trapped under a rock and the other was a copperband that my yellow tang killed almost immediately. as i read through the threads on this sight i wonder if i am doing everything i am supposed to so i can keep my sucess going do you have any suggestions for me.

Sounds like you are doing well, however your Yellow Tang will likely be very aggressive in a tank that small, you may have difficulty introducing new fish. Your YT will feel cramped and the need to defend his small "turf".

best advice for the long term is to get the best skimmer you can afford, and start saving for the biggest possible tank you fit in your house, this hobby is addicting
