How active are Yellow and California Stingrays? Also can California Stingrays be acclimated to warmer temperatures?

I can't speak about California rays, but I've kept several Yellow Rays and they're nothing short of awsome. Very active and very interactive. I refer to mine as my wet dogs. They love to be petted and fed by hand. Good luck with yours.

I keep mine @ 76-77, he seems fine. Had him like that since November 02'.
They're pretty easy to keep so long as your tank is set up right.
Mine seems to like a little bit higher salinity.
Eats squid like a champ. He shed his stinger and I found it one day moving rocks in the tank, put it on the coffee table, and roomate threw it out. It was pretty cool. He's got another one now. Actually it is a she. I just always say he for some reason.
As far as how active they are. Not always active, but they rest for periods of 20 minutes plus sometimes and swim all night long after the lights go out. I've been thinking of adding some moonlights.

bioreefer,
I had a custom tank made that I installed in a wall. its 74X30X18. So I believe that's around 200 gallons.

The main thing is to have enough room for them to swim. So gallons of water a tank holds isn't as important as the square footage of the footprint. I would invest in a good skimmer and I also us a UV sterilizer. One last thing, a fine sand substrate is a must. HTH

I hear very little of people succesfully keeping rays. Are they more suceptable to disease in captivity? What is their average growth rate in say a 300g? Sorry I don't know square footage of 300 just your standard 300, or would it be better to build a tank yourself.
